| Over forty years in higher education I think the greatest change I have seen is in the field of technology and it is changing what we do at break-neck speed. When I entered this business we used only large computers that filled a whole room and they were located somewhere away from campus and we could access them sometimes for two or three hours a day and they were used for scientific problems. Today for instance at the University of La Verne we're spending six to seven million dollars a year on technology alone. We've added thirty people to equip technology for the university. We have something like twenty three hundred computers on this campus. Every faculty member and staff member has a computer of their own. And now as I look at the developments of technology I would say that it would continue to change everything that we do. Not just in education but in all of our businesses. And I think it will be a real challenge for us to stay abreast of the changes of technology and the way people use technology and communicate and the way that will impact all of our businesses. | |
